Today I ate;

2.5 liters of water
Fresh vegetable juice
Coconut water
Mangoes
Ripe plantain
Arugula/green leaf/dandelion salad
w/the same dressing as yesterday
= 1560 total calories for the day
I thought I ate more calories than that. It's 11pm and I just ate another plantain. No wonder I was hungry this late, I only had 1430 calories (before I ate it). That's low for me.

Monday, June 29, 2009

Today I ate;

1.5 liters of water
Mangoes
Ripe plantain (-So good!)
Red leaf/avocado/tomato/cucumber/dandelion Salad
w/ the same dressing as yesterday

Today I ate;

1.5 liters of water
Medjool dates
Dandelion/cucumber/tomato/red leaf lettuce salad
w/dressing (red bell pepper, sundried tomato, date, celery, garlic, tomato, lemon juice)
= 1650 total calories for the day
I'm still loving lots of dandelion salads. I feel like I'm looking and feeling better everyday. I definitely want to keep eating lots of dandelion greens & see where it takes me.

Today I ate;

3 liters of water
Fresh orange juice
Mangoes
Plantain
Big dandelion/cucumber/tomato salad
w/date-cucumber-sun dried tomato dressing
Lots(!) of Medjool dates
= 26oo calories for the day

I ate super calories today on purpose. I had to go to a Brazilian dinner party, then out dancing. I wanted to eat enough so that I wouldn't be hungry or tempted to eat while out. It worked! Everyone ate lots of Brazilian food & chocolate cake & I didn't want any of it. None of it looked tempting. -Yay! (;D)

Friday, June 26, 2009

Today I ate;

2 liters of water
Lots of Mangoes
Big dandelion-basil-green leaf salad
with mango-tomato-celery dressing
= 1500 calories for the day

Thursday, June 25, 2009

Today I ate;

3 liters of water
Galia melon
Mangoes
Red currants
Blueberries
Raspberries
Nectarines
Bananas
Basil-green leaf-dandelion salad
with sweet cucumber dressing (<--Dressing recipe; dates, cucumbers, lemon juice, garlic, spirulina, celery, tomato.) I had planned on making a mango dressing, but a funny story happened. Well ..sad & funny. After eating 2 mangoes for breakfast I didn't have any more to make the dinner salad dressing with. So I went to the store and bought the very last organic mango they had. I brought my own bag to the store like a good little eco-girl, I paid for the mango and put it in my bag. When I got home it was gone! To my surprise there was a big whole in the bottom of my bag! Argh. ( :() I retraced my steps to see if I could find it rolling on the ground but it was gone. I hope the person who picked it up liked it. If they had a good time with it that makes me happy. If it went to waste that would be sad. Oh well.
= 1650 total calories for the day (<--Wow, all the greens & berries I ate didn't add up to much. Most of the calories are from the sweet fruit I ate, melon, dates, etc..)

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Today I ate;

3 liters of water
Galia melon
Honeydew melon
Banana
Basil, plum tomato & romaine lettuce salad
with sun dried tomato-fresh mango sauce (<-- Exactly the same as yesterday's but instead of dates I used mangos.)
= 1950  total calories for the day

Mango & (sun dried) tomato is an awesome pair! Wow, so good. I totally think the dressing I made today is better than yesterday's. I think fresh mango is a much better choice to sweeten & thicken raw sauces. Better than dates.

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Today I ate;

2 liters of water
Bananas
Lots of chopped Dandelion-cucumber-tomato salad
with a sweet sun dried tomato dressing*
Lots of Medjool dates (after for dessert)
= 2250 total calories for the day

*The sweet sun dried tomato dressing was really good! Here is the recipe; It's organic (sulphide free) sun dried tomatoes, plum tomatoes, celery, lemon juice, garlic and Medjool dates. Blend it all on the highest speed. (Remember to put the juicy fruit & liquid in the blender first. That way no water is needed.) For thin sauce put more cucumber and fresh tomato, for think sauce add more dates. For more 'kick' add fresh herbs or fresh hot pepper.

So I'm still on a dandelion kick. I feel really good eating lots of it right now. I even checked out it's nutritional profile. Nutridiary.com said that it's 68% Carbohydrate/ 12% fat/ 20% protein. It just makes me think, every time I'm asked, "Wow, you eat so much fruit, where do you get your protein?" I'm sure I get it from my greens (..it's in fruit too though). Strong animals like oxen, horses, etc., are also sure they get it. They don't need to eat chicken breast to build their muscles or to be strong. A horse could eat some grass and apples and feel complete. As long as you are eating a variety of different foods (with amino acids) like fruits, vegetables & leafy greens you're are in great shape. If you feel you need a lot more there is always algae, nuts, seeds, etc. Another site I found today called NutritionData.com has some interesting things to say about the nutritional value of food. (The numbers were slightly different from Nutridiary.) I looked up kale, then I looked up chicken breast. Check it out for yourself (<--just click my links), very interesting. Kale is low fat, high protein and anti-inflammatory. Chicken breast (the 'healthiest' part of the chicken) is low fat (without the skin, high fat with the skin), very high protein & inflammatory! Not good. Compare all the data charts (on the links), there is no contest, I vote kale!

Today I ate;

2.5 liters of water
Honeydew melon
Galia melon
Granny Smith apple & dandelion salad
with chopped cucumber, tomato & wholegrain mustard (<-- Mustard not on the plan. It did taste good with the tart green apple. I might pay for it later though. Not the best combo for proper digestion. I just ate it so I'm not sure how well my stomach will like it. Taste buds had fun with it though.)
= 1200 total calories for the day

So at least I brought out the melons today. That's good. I'm happy about that. Also today was really fruity and very low fat. So that's good too. I'm a little under on calories though. It's almost 8pm, so I don't think I will eat again.

Today and Yesterday I ate;

Over the last few days I've eaten at least 2 big dandelion salads a day. This means in the last three days I've eaten almost 5 bunches! I feel really satisfied after I eat dandelions. I've eaten them sweet & savory. The sweet salads were chopped green apple/celery/dandelion/banana with blended banana & cinnamon on top. The savory ones have LOTS of chopped tomato/cucumber/dandelions and a dressing with a little fat like pin nuts. I've really enjoyed this.

I had to put all my Galia & Honeydew melons in the fridge for now. I didn't want them to get too ripe or go bad. Melon days ahead! I would like to do a few melon only days. Maybe starting  on Tuesday. I know I said that before. I think with all of this rainy cool weather I'm not craving melons, I'm craving mostly salads.

Friday, June 19, 2009

Today I ate;

Wow, things are really changing. This morning I woke up craving dandelions. I made a big dandelion & cucumber salad with a celery/pine nut/tomato dressing.  No oil, no salt, no vinegar, no sweetener. It was perfect. Pine nuts are not on the fruity program. But I put them in cause I had them here. Even though I haven't been strict with the new diet I'm really changing from the inside out. I see the changes. My hopes in doing this fruity challenge were to change my taste buds. To develop a pallet that loves simple pure foods, mostly in their natural state. This is definitely happening. I'm eating more fruit mono-meals and the salads are much simpler than before. I no longer rely on bottled dressings or marinated foods (like olives) for a tasty green salad. Also, most of my meals have been fruit or fruit based (lots of cucumber & tomato). I haven't needed to buy expensive complicated foods like dehydrated crackers & chips, nutty granola, seaweed seasoning, food bars, raw soy sauce, special seed oils (like flax & hemp) or other pre-made raw dishes to eat at home. Eating out or at raw gourmet restaurants has been less frequent and less desirable. I was doing it much more before. This is good news! ...Change is coming.

Today and Yesterday I ate;

Wow, I'm still veering off the road! Today and yesterday I had mostly salad stuff (with fatty sauces). All of it was really yummy. But now I have melons going bad and I'm totally off track. (FYI: Eating melons when I still have fats & heavy food in my system is not a good idea. Immediate bloat will follow.) I need to hop back over to eating low fat cleaner foods. The little 'food party' I had the last few days has been fun. But it's time to create change and get back to business!

Yesterday
2 liters of water
Coconut water
Dandelion-tomato salad
with fennel, bell pepper & dressing
Plain tomatoes & pine nuts

Today
2 liters of water
Coconut water
Fresh mixed vegetable juice
Salad bar stuff  at Freefoods (-the spring rolls were amazing!)
Dandelion-tomato salad
with pine nuts & pine nut dressing

Sunday, June 14, 2009

Today I ate;

1.5 liters of water
500ml of Yogi tea
Fresh orange juice
Honeydew melon
Bananas
Tomato, cucumber, red bell pepper salad
with chopped dandelions, fennel & dressing (<-- I ate a lot! And the fennel & dressing is not on the program. I actually think I was really thirsty from exercise.  I confused it with craving something heavier to eat. I should have drank more water first, then waited to see. The salad was really good though. I'm making up for the water intake with tea and water. Tomorrow I will go back to drinking a liter of water after I wake up. It's so important.)
= 2090 total calories for the day

So far it's been a bit 'on and off' (of the program), but I can definitely see a difference. I notice that when I do eat off the program I'm looking for high water content food. Like today, (and the other day), I had a big salad with veggies and a little dressing. In the past my dinner habit was a super big dark green leafy salad with nut pate, a zucchini hummus or lots of avocado, olives and dressing. It was very high fat and not very water rich. Now it's a big non-sweet fruit salad, like cucumber & tomato with some herbs, soft leafy greens or maybe bitter greens, veggies and a little dressing. This is a big change. I like this change. So the progress is definitely good news. Sticking to my diet and eating mostly whole fruits and greens (without lots of fat) takes some work. It's harder than I thought. I heard that it takes at least 90 days to change your diet. I plan on working into a greener-fruitier diet until the end of the year. So I have no doubt I'll get there. I'm in for the 90+ days...

Today I ate;

3 liters of water
Blended apples
Blended bananas with green mix
Fruit salad (at a restaurant)
Fresh orange juice
= 1765 total calories for the day

I'm so proud of myself! I went to a French restaurant for dinner with a friend. My friend ordered the special of the day, rabbit.  I asked if the waiter if the chef could make me a fruit salad. I told him that I see fruit listed on the menu as part of other dishes, could they just make me a fruit plate. He looked at me like I was a bit strange (and a pain in the ass), but said, "OK". This is the first time I have ever done this. It worked out great. I got to go out to dinner with a friend and stick to my diet. Fantastic!

Today I ate;

2 liters of water
Honeydew melon
Mangos (I wish I had bought more..)
Fresh orange juice
Banana-dandelion smoothie
Cucumber-spirulina salad
Salad bar at LifeThyme (<--Totally went off the program and had a huge salad. It was yummy. It felt yummy for a while until about 2 hours later, then I started feeling the weight of it. The 'blahs' set in. It tasted really good though. I was even tempted to go 'all out' and blow-off the day by having a little coffee with soymilk in it. ..But I didn't.)
= ? total calories for the day (<--I'm not sure, but the tally was 1760 before the salad. The salad had a tahini type dressing, so I'm sure it was high calorie. Maybe the total is 2300 for the day.)

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Today I ate;

3 liters of water
Coconut water
16oz of mixed vegetable juice
TONS of plum tomatoes
Chopped tomatoes & cucumbers with tomato sauce

Monday, June 8, 2009

Today and Yesterday I ate;

Sunday
2 liters of water
Mango
Cantaloupe
Chopped tomatoes on a mixed herb salad
with pine nuts & tomato dressing    <--I went off the program today, I had pine nuts. I did it on purpose. I wasn't hungry or craving fats. I think I got scared that maybe I was detoxing too fast from the fruit. I was feeling really emotional last week, and by the weekend I was getting tired of it. My thinking was, the pine nuts (the fat) would stop the emotions. The only thing it did was made me feel not as good as when I eat fruit. I now think the problem was not eating enough calories (or fruit) three days in a row. Friday & Saturday I was dealing with an upset stomach and didn't eat much. Sunday I was busy and didn't eat until later in the day. If my body was detoxing too fast it wasn't from the fruit, it was from not eating enough. That's my guess. This week I am back to mostly fruit. Let's see what happens...)

Monday
3 liters of water
Mixed berries (blueberries and raspberries)
Banana-berry smoothie
Banana-green smoothie
Whole bananas
= 1950 total calories for the day

Friday & Saturday

On Friday I ate something that bothered my stomach. (:( ) All I ate that day was cantaloupe for breakfast and summer squash with tomato sauce for lunch. So I'm not sure where the problem was, but it was bad. I had stomach pain for hours, all the way into Saturday morning. All day Saturday I had nothing but fresh orange juice. Later that evening I had some honeydew melon, whole oranges and a mango. I'm feeling much better now. (:) )
