Today I ate;

1.5 liters of water
Jicima raw sushi with wasabi dressing (<--from Freefoods, it was so good!)
Chopped cucumbers & tomatoes on a bed of sprouts with tahini dressing
Sesame seed cookies for dessert

*Sesame Seed Cookies Recipe*
Use 1 cup of ground sesame seeds or dry (not oily) tahini butter, 1 tablespoon of raw honey and a few squirts of lemon juice for the dough. Shape it into cookies, then sprinkle and push in a few raisins on top. Don't skip the raisins! They make it great and add color.)

Question for AimeeLovesYou

When you are making your sauces, do you use a vitamix or food processor, or something else all together? I find that neither is very conducive to making small portions of any kinds of dressings, etc, so I was curious to know what you do...Thanks! -Lisa

It depends. If I want to make a single serving of a raw nutty dessert or an avocado cacao pudding, I do it in my coffee grinder. I had it for years and it runs smooth and washes great. If I want to make about 2 cups (anything less than that won't blend) of salad dressing I use my Vitamix blender. The trick is to put fresh tomato or citrus juice first, then chopped cucumber, tomatoes or whatever water rich foods you choose, (I don't usually use plain water in my dressings), then the rest of the ingredients on top. If you put bulky stuff first it doesn't blend, if you put only a little liquid and nothing else, it just splashes around inside. You have to put both, and make sure it's in the right order. I have a mini food processor that I sometimes make salsa in, but I rarely use it. If I want to make a very small serving of a veggie soup or fruit smoothie I use a personal blender. You can also make salad dressings in there. I hope this helps. -Xo!

* Green Smoothie Recipe: Banana & Beet tops*
This green smoothie is not green. It is the color of chocolate milk, a beautiful red-ish brown. I used a little filtered water, three bananas, and about 6 or more beet leaves including the stalks. I did not use the beet, only it's greens. If you want it thick, put the bananas in the blender first and don't use water. If you like it cold you can make it with ice.

(I exercised too! I'm back to exercising daily again. My back is feeling better and it's great news. I am really excited about it. Also, the weather is getting better and spring is here, so I look forward to working out outdoors. But, I just wanted to say, ..I think I am going to list calories or nutrients daily with the day's meals instead of exercise. I think it would help me, and maybe you, get an idea of the numbers in a raw food diet. For example; you really can't get sufficient calories unless you eat sweet fruit or fat. Non-sweet fruits, medium sweet fruits and greens really don't add up to much. They have lots of good stuff, but they are really low calorie. Balancing them with sweet fruits or fats gives your total calories a big boost. As the days pass this year you will see how it all breaks down and adds up on this blog.)

Today and Yesterday I ate;

I had the pleasure of eating at great raw restaurants two days in a row!

Tuesday~
2 liters of water
Pears
Dinner at Freefoods (I went with a friend. We grabbed a little of everything raw vegan on the menu and shared it. Everything we tried was delicious.  That night at her place, I also had raw purple cabbage leaves with a purple olive pate inside. What a perfect combo! I must have that again. It was so simple and so tasty.)

Wednesday~
2.5 liters of water
Carrot juice
Beet juice
Dinner at Bonobo's (I had a sampler platter of their assorted raw vegetable salads and a green leaf salad with raw walnut pate on top. Their nut pates are excellent!)
